Mike, if they're owned by T&M and you don't want to put money in their pockets then you'd better find a different supplier. I don't shop with the big companies because I think they're a total rip off.

If they were mine, I would not plant them out in the garden until next April or May, kept in pots they can develope a root system, you can keep them in over winter, up to you though, sounds like you planted them out direct last year.

They are an easy lot to grow so hopefully you will have no probs if you pamper them a bit.

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

  • Hi,

I had used Jersey Plants  direct for several years, and were OK to good. But last year their tomato plants arrived stuffed in boxes and severely broken, clearly done by the packer and not the shipper, took ages to get a refund, they wanted me to pick alternatives even though the season was finished and they had no similar plants available. This year I ordered strawberry plants in hanging baskets over 2 months ago. Only last week they wrote to me via snail mail, not by email?? even though they have my email address as they sent the order confirmation to it.

They expected me to order something else or take a credit note!!!!, but again no alternatives were available and to post back to them my choice, not even a stamp on the pre-addressed envelope???They are a bunch of amateurs who do not understand basic consumer law. I suspect they are on the verge of going out of business and suggest that ordering from them is very risky, I will not be using them again.

Do they ever respond to your mails. I've been waiting for my plants for more than a month now!! Tried to call them up but in vain. Wrote to them a couple of days back but again no response!! What should i do? I checked my order status but dispatch date too isn't available. Whats going on? Why don't they write back to me if there's any problem with the dispatch? Will never trade with them any more...

Hi Anthony would you mind just putting a note on the good guys as its a great thread to check before making a big purchase to find out what people say about your potential supplier.

It's worth posting on their facebook page if they have one, companies don't like "bad publicity"

  • Only had problems with these people false promises of delivery, blatant lies plants have been dispathced then told different.Ordered 1 - 2 weeks delivery still waiting after 4 weeks .Spring flowers half way through summer.

Do not order from these people

Have used them quite a few times and apart from one year when the plants did not turn up, and they were quite shirty when I contacted them, but apart from then they have always been delivered in good time and good quality plants!

About who owns them on their website it says,Jersey Choice is the parent company of Jersey Plants Direct, but that is not to say the big bad wolf could be T&M (worse luck).

  • Have just bought some begonia trailing plants. Came boxed brilliant quality plants. Just growing them on for a few weeks before putting them into the baskets. Will definitely use again loads better than the ones I had from van meuwen last year.
  • I have used Jersey Plants for about 8 years now.The first order (winter pansies) were very good, probably 90% success rate, but the plants have deteriorated over the last few years.I ordered 45 bedding geraniums this year, and they are not much bigger now than when I bought them in march.I have found a new supplier of quality plants now,a local supermarket,(Morrisons).Every plant I have purchased have done really well, plus theres no messing about potting on.So its goodbye Jersey Plants for me!
