Geoff Hamilton always did it for me! Having said that, I have enjoyed most of the presenters including Monty but somehow he doesn't seem as committed. Is it just me or are we getting less practical advice and more pretty garden visits? While I am on can I also say why does GW always have to make way for sport etc. Not fair!
Some good points from everyone re GW. I love it and never miss a show. I love Carol as she's so full of enthusiasm and no matter whos presenting its the gardening info I'm interested in. I find Monty ok. I'm too young to even know who Geoff Hamilton is! Alan T is good, but on love your garden he rarely gets his hands dirty. Beechgrove is full of useful info too. But I have to say there's much to be said for experience on your own allotment/garden and the people around you. It's more relevant to your area and locality.
When Monty left first time round. I DID apply for his job. Clearly Toby got it over me, but hey ho: at least I applied.
I've also written a 12 part garden series and contacted lots of production companies to see if it might be commissioned. I had lots of advice from a senior member of the GW production team by email and over the phone. Alas budgets etc meant " no new gardening programmes are being commissioned at this time"
to be fair i'd watch monty talk about paint drying! tee hee!! i do like carol, never watched before monty presented, like alan but often don't like gardens he produces, not keen on joe swift and cannot stand diaruid 'do you know who i am?'

Of course Verdun, it goes without saying - age before beauty
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
