Weed seedling web page

Peanuts3Peanuts3 Posts: 759

Just found this web page that shows what seedlings of weeds look like. I'm forever weeding and last year realised I pulled up all the seedlings of the seeds I'd sown and forgotten about. Oh so much to learn !!!

THought I'd share this, it might be of some use at this time of year, for the novices like me out there imageimage

When you plant seeds direct into a flowerbed, how do you identify them when they come up, and know they aren't weeds ?  I saw someone sow them in a circle so it was obvious, good idea, maybe I should try that this year.

Thanks, Peanuts - very timely, especially as all the 'little perishers' are just getting going again!!

Thanks Peanuts. I'm sure this will prove useful to many of us!

Seeds in the flowerbed - good idea to sow in a pattern (circle, wavy line or whatever). Another way is to sprinkle sand over where they are sown, I've also outlined the area with twigs or stones. However the weeds won't care about any of these methods!!

    Thanks Peanuts, a useful site.

I sow seeds either in lines or in a noughts and crosses pattern.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Forgot to mention - last year I just threw them in the border for a 'natural look' - not my best plan!
