The problem is a very poor design by the builders, I do not think they imagined someone claiming the 6 inches. If we had known when we moved in we would have fenced it. I knew nothing about gardening then.
Sadly Geoff only a wall would stop him, he has no sense of boundaries hence all the public phonecalls and regular outings in his undies.
@Sotongeoff: My neighbours built a large patio area and gave the rest over to their children. They much admire my garden and on the whole they are nice people but in my day, I would tell my kids off if they made too much noise. We live near old peoples homes and its just not polite behaviour in my book, but that seems to be an old fashioned attitude these days. Dogs bark constantly, music blairs out loudly and the kids scream and shout at each other whenever they are together. It's really impossible to enjoy any serene time on ones own patio/sun areas at those times, but as I said, at least I do have my garden with flowers now, no ugly eye sore next door and if I must be outside between terms, I can take the MP3 player. Its the lesser of two evils beause I would never want those weeds again.
Blimey. This makes me feel so lucky. My house is in its own, tucked inside a granite walled garden but right in the middle of town. I let my neighbours keep their wheelie bins etc up my back passage (!) but the deal is they take all bins out on collection days and bring them back in. Never see them really. MP3 player sounds like a good strategy.
Wintersong I am also a MP3 fan, apparently wanting to be able to think in your own garden is unusual
Geoff it is only really a problem to a gardener, if I had left the original mix of car park shrubs there it would not really be a problem as he could have trod on them.
Kate they should be but growing tomatoes outdoors is always dodgy-pot,growbag, or in the garden ?
I always grow my tomatoes in pots on the patio up against the privet hedge. It gets a bit hard to cut that bit of hedge but it shelters them from the wind.

There must be some solution-what if you want to sell?

This is it in a nutshell Kate, as with my neighbours, its misunderstanding or choosing to ignore invisible boundaries as well as those you can see.

KG each year I say this will be my last attempt but I am trying to recapture a taste of childhood but my grandparents did have a greenhouse.
