potting up bare root raspberries
in Fruit & veg
This weekend i shall be mostly potting up 10 bare root raspberries canes. from information ive gathered, i can plant 2 canes within a 40cm pot (one at each end). thompson and morgans site reckons you can plant 5 canes within a 60cm pot but i would have though that wouldnt be big enough for them? could anyone clarify this for me as obviously 2x60cm pots would take up less room than 5x 40cm ones.
ive never planted anything bare root before, is there anything i need to know? FYI, they are tied up together and potted within a 9cm pot. is it just a case of untying them, removing the soil from them, sticking them in a bucket of water for a bit, then planting them in the pots?
thanks, in advance!

basically yes dj. Is there any reason you aren't putting them straight into the garden as they would be better off going in.
hey Dave. yes mate you possibly might remember my other threads about the soil problem i had. its heavy clay, waterlogged and acidic. i attempted to dig in sharp sand to help with drainage but did it during bad rain so compacted it and made it all like a bed of cement! so for the above reasons its not possible.
You need to look for the soil line on the stems and plant them to the same depth
