Compost or manure ?

I've just bought some bags of compost and some bags of farmyard manure from GC. Last year I dug over a flowerbed, and put a tonne of manure on it (bought bulk).

Got me thinking, when is it better to use compost and when is it better to use manure?  I'd use compost in pots and for seedlings, but as we are on sandy soil I figure I'm going to have to keep adding nutrients back into the soil, so just wondered if you are able to offer any advice as to which is best.  (i'm also going to add Fish blood and bone to up the nutrients as garden needs TLC after previous owners).

thank you.

I'd say you've got it right. Use the compost for germinating and potting on, but use the manure, as much as you can get as you're on sandy soil, as a soil conditioner.

I heard from GQT you only need blood fish and bone when planting individual plants rather than scattering it on the bed (just incase you were going to do that)

Good to know thank you.  Had wondered whether I should scatter FBB to add some nutrients back to soil, but maybe I'll just scatter manure instead.
