Cordyline
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I bought 3 cordylines to add a wee bit height to my flower beds, I really didn't expect them to survive the winters here...that was 3 years ago and they are now between 4 - 6 ft and beautiful condition & shape.
I want to move them ( as I now cannot use one of my washing lines!) can anyone tell me when to do this, and really anything else that would help. Nothing to technical if poss as I'm a real amateur!!
Many thanks

AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. The general rule of thumb is to move any tree or shrub dormant or semi dormant. When you do, cut them back assuming you haven't done this recently, as I think it will take less strength out of the plant. Cordylines respond wonderfully to pruning and your single head will then turn into at least 3 heads and grow on and on, making it bushy rather than one long stemmed plant. Where are you going to move them to? The green variety certainly doesn't like full sun, the bronze one I am not sure of. Red ones can stay in the sun. Just dig out as much of the roots as you can to reduce shock..
Thanks so much for your replies....ok onwards and upwards will follow the advice and get them moved this weekend...as for the prunning, eeeeeek, I will be brave !!! Never knew you could prune them, thanks again folks
I moved some green and red ones at the weekend and did what Verdun said. Not sure about the green ones not liking full sun...perhaps it is wetter in Fife than Cornwall and that helps?
