Quince Dilemma

Your Vranja will be grafted so it depends what rootstock it's grafted onto. The rootstock is most likely Quince A but you should check with the supplier. I'd be surprised if you had any problems with it. The suckers if you do get them won't be Vranja though so bear that in mind if you think you can propagate it to give some away. You will be able to but you'd need to graft some Vranja on to the sucker.

By the way, they are both called Quince but they are as different as apples and pears and need different treatment. The Vranja needs a long growing season and is not a good one for Northern gardens which is why I didn't get that one. If you're in the North then it will need a south facing wall and protection, but it supposed to be a good one.

We have what I think is Serbian Gold in our garden, growing as a bush interspersed by an early-flowering clematis.  It doesn't fruit much, but looks lovely.

I've got Serbian Gold, are the fruits on yours round and fairly smooth or are they pear shaped and nobly?

    This is mine.

Great, I wish I could grow Vranja, it's very popular. Never mine I got a good crop of the SB last year considering it was Year 1.

Jim Mcd - doesn't have any fruits, ever.  Maybe it isn't Serbian Gold then? I'll post a photo soon.
