I have seen this plant and just can not identify it, it covers a large area if that helps

Epimedium. don't know which one without the flowers, sorry
In the sticks near Peterborough
..looks very much like mine, Epimedium 'Frohnleiten'... it's best to cut the leaves off just before it flowers... I've already done mine... bit early... but if you do this you need to take care you don't cut off the emerging flowers.
I have just googled Epimedium and yes it is identical....THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE
