Humulus Lupunus Aureus

About five weeks ago I bought some golden hops from my local garden centre.  The proprieter advised me to keep the pot under cover until the weather warms up a bit before planting out.  Some new growth started to appear about two weeks ago but has now promptly died back.  Has it died? or will new growth appear shortly?  The pot has been out on warm days and in at night and is currently in my porch which has an abundance of good natural light.
