I don't know how big they are but they're crocosmia shape. Sweet potatoes are sort of oval with the stem scars at the ends. The ones that Sainsbury's sell anyway.
That is crocosmia, if you pot them, small corms will grow from the large. The small corms produce the flowers when they are 1-2cm's. You break the small one's off and replant them in their flowering position. I use a large pot to home the large corms in ordinary garden soil, and inspect them after about 6 months. Then remove any small corms to plant out.
I dug up 'chains' of crocosmia like this. They had stopped flowering and when I dug I was quite surprised at their length and how tough they were. I composted them and they have still to break down!
