Today whilst cutting back snowberry in a hedge I found this ? Could anyone id it please. It looks familiar but no idea what it is called.
Also would it be suitable in a hedge or should I remove it. It is currently on a boundary fence line.
Thanks.
Ruscus aculeatus, butchers broom. It's a shade plant and can join a native hedgerow though it won't be tall.
Great, thank you so much
If it is a self fertile form it will have lovely long lasting red berries as well.
