Hanging basket seed disc advice please

Hi ladies and gents,

I have a 8cm trailing flower mix seed disc (petunias, etc) that I would like to plant in a 12 inch / 30 cm hanging basket.

Should I plant this disc in the centre of the basket leaving 11 cm either side of the seeds? (thus letting the roots go down deep in the basket).

Or should I cut the disc up and evenly spread the seeds across the hanging basket?

    i would think in the centre myself i would be interested to know more about them did you get them mail order , who makes them?

    I would cut it up. Obivously that isn't the point but, hey, that would be best.

    I tried these in pots two years ago, just laid in the centre, and they were really quite impressive. I got mine from Morrisons for a couple of pounds each. I'm sure it would work to cut them up as well, though. One of the pots re-sprouted the next year and was nearly as good the second time around - excellent value for money!

    I tried the veg strips one year and found them really good. Saved on sowing too many seeds and there was no thinning out as the seeds were evenly spread along the strip.Can't recall how much they cost though.

    I'd just put the disc in the centre of your pot and follow the instructions..

    That looks like a very cheap solution Lee. Where did you get yours from?

    I got them from poundland. They are by Beautiful Garden. There are also some on eBay.



    The instructions are good but there is no advice regarding basket size or positioning.



    But with the advice on here I'll plant one 8cm disc in the middle of the 12 inch basket and see if it fills out and trails image

    If anyone is looking for seed discs, aldi has some next week (27th) along with other gardening bits and pieces.
