Pound shop plants- any success stories?

  • Years ago I bought an Apple and a Pear as "dead sticks" in a plastic sleeve £1 for both. The only snag is I am not certain of the varieties but they both produce fruit every year.

  • I've had loads of pounds shop plants .i start them off in pots and plant them out the following spring , have never had a failure .me and the wife say  if we were younger we would have liked to have made a garden of just 1 pound plants

    I’ve just bought 20 Liatris bulbs, bought same last year and their fine.

    Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

    I also bought a bare root climbing pink rose from poundshop,and it did absolutely nothing! I got sick of looking at it,thinking time was passing to get another Rose in to bloom in time.In the end I threw it out,and spent £13 on a beautiful red, scented climbing rose,and wish I'd done it earlier. My Liatris and other perennials are doing well though!
    The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.
