I love penstemons and anemones and have lots around the garden: I bought one very similar to wild swan at the end of last summer and it's wonderful, it's already starting to grow again so hopefully we won't have any sharp frosts!
I will think about those grasses, I'm not usually a huge fan of them but I quite like the look of hackonechloa.
I think I have a phlox paniculata blue paradise and it does really well, it's amazing as the colour changes from a purple to a blue depending on the light.

I have an area like this and I'm going to try Phlox paniculata Blue Paradise there this year, Alstroemeria do well in part shade too.
