  • MY SPROUT LEAVES HAVE BEEN INVADED WITH CATTERPILLARS
AND ARE STRIPPING THE LEAVES. I HAVE 4 PLANTS SEPERATE FROM THE MAIN CROP AND I HAVE SLICED OFF ALL THE BIG LEAVES AND JET SPRAYED THE STALK AND YOUNG SPROUTS WITH WATER. WILL THIS DO ANY GOOD? WHAT SHOULD I DO ABOUT THE MAIN CROP?
  • hi just been down the alltoment and found aload for caterpillers on my cabbage and swede how do i get rid of them

  • Take a little time to squash the caterpillars. This is most important, but even more so is to keep a sharp look out for any, each and every day. Try and keep a sharp lookout  for a grey deposit on the leaves, and if you destroy this, there will not be any caterpillars.

  • Spraying with 1 part milk to 2 parts milk (I use skimmed) deters cabbage white butterflies from landing to lay their eggs - they're put off by the smell. Worked for my purple sprouting broccoli and kale for a week, then had to re-spray. Be interested to hear if anyone else tries this and success rate. (Next year I plan to net my broccoli to avoid this problem...)

They  have eaten all the leaves on my brussels and have moved on to the cabbage.Wll the sprouts on the stems survive or should i just dig it all up and bin it.

why are they moving on to the walls of my house ? Hsve to try different methods next year.

Is it caterpillars or slugs and snails - they're the ones that eat my sunflower leaves.
