Opal Plum Tree

Hi All

I have purchased a Plum Opal tree today as i could not resist.... I have a place that i would like to plant it but it in on the north side of my garden. I know these require sun really but the tree is very tall and so when planted will actually be above the 6ft fence panel and so will receive light. Will this be ok or would i be better off trying to locate a space that receives more sun for longer?
