I'll be ordering my hosta collection as soon as the rain stays away long enough for me to prepare the ground. I've purchased 10 large copper rings which apparently are good to keep slugs and snails away providing, as Dovefromabove says, there are no nearby leaves or other plants that could act as a bridge for the snails and slugs. Can't speak from personal experience yet, but I hope I'll be able to report success at the end of the season.
