CROP ROTATION

Hi,

I've created 4 raised beds for crop rotation this year and will rotate; potatoes; legumes & alliums; brassicas; root veg.

I'm unsure what families- sweet corn, courgettes, lettuce and spinach belong to.

Any advice ?

I think in veg books they come under the heading 'other'.

  • Those all benefit from extra nitrogen so would ideally follow legumes if you have room left in the brassica bed.  Otherwise just fit them in where you can. image

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

    Hi Mobro,

GW magazine did an article on crop rotation in the January issue. According to that - sweetcorn is in the grass group, courgettes in the cucurbit with cucumber, melon & pumpkin, spinich is in the beet group with beetroot and chard. It also showed how to double crop over a three year cycle. I could take a photo of the relevant bits and post on here but don't know if it would be allowed.image
