What is this?

Unidentified tree growing where the foundations for. An old swimming pool were.

    At the top of the message bar there is a small picture of a tree next to the abc spell check, click on that and upload your pic. Hope this helps : )

    Hi Hayley,

    It's a willow – not sure which species – but attractive when in flower in spring. It might turn into a bit of a thug if left unpruned, and their roots are one of the worst for damaging house foundations, so if it's near a building, you might want to consider getting rid of it!

    Was the photo taken very recently? In other words, is it evergreen?

    From here it looks like a cosmos but if the photo is recent it would be unusual to find one looking like that in the winter.  A clearer photo would help us to give a better ID. 

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    I thought cosmos too if pic was taken before the frosts.
    In London. Keen but lazy.

    I thought cosmos too, especially looking at possible flower buds, but the picture is quite out of focus so it is hard to say. Maybe Heather is in the Southern Hemisphere.
