I noticed a honey bee which appeared to be stuck on a green leaf. Being very kind I took a stick and it reluctantly dislodged itself, but immediately landed on the climbing rose bush next to it, and with the precision of a laser beam cut out an eliptical section of leaf! This answered my 'wonderings' as to why many leaves of this nice new plant were being eaten, and Gardener's World.com has answered my question.
I don`t have a problem with them eating leaves but is it possible a leafcutter bee is building a nest in my strawberry pot? I don`t have fruit in it just trailing lobelia.

We have a hedge around our front garden, it cannot be just one bee doing this, the whole hedge is decimated.
How wonderful
You must have a very wildlife-friendly garden - have you discovered where they're nesting?
