I really do not mind French Marigolds. I appreciate how easy they are to germinate and their splashes of colour that can last all summer. I am going to grow them this year.

  • Hi All

Oh well my wife and I are in the minority thenimage  We'll just enjoy them ourselves. Although from what you are saying that explains why the seeds were in the sale image

Not long now till spring, have a good gardening weekend, weather permitting

  • Nigella's black cherry chocolate trifle is delicious. Not a patch on the 70s version!

Mark 1963 - Your garden is for you to enjoy, so well done you for sticking to what you and your wife like best and not what fashion dictates.

    How true!

  • love marigolds ,bright cheerie and useful, whats not to like.image

  • I love calendula, they grow everywhere and fill spaces in the summer.. what amazes me is seeing them in pots in posh garden centres for an exorbitant price.. when I pull up self seeded plants that are growing too close together! I might try French marigolds this year with my runner beans to keep off green fly, like my aunt did for years.

Am a new gardener so had to look these up. I think they look nice. I'll give anything a go in my garden, fashion be damned image

  • I use them in the greenhouse and they're brilliant for keeping the greenfly away. Who gives a damn what's in fashion, I love the old varieties, veg included often enough, grow what you like and enjoy it!
