  • Oooh Autumn fare sounds wonderful, we went to a Midwinter fare at the weekened but alas it was more interior based rather than garden based.

Weather forcast is totally spot on!  I shall aim to cover our fig this afternoon and continue to mulch  fruit beds too, providing I don't get blown away - super blustery here at the moment!

    Enjoy your week all!

Yes, Autumn Fair was good, and had invite to interesting Bio Conference in January -so something to look forward to before the Garden Fairs start again in Feb with the Fete de Mimosa. Do let us know how you get on with building raised beds etc Obelixx, thinking of trying this out if and when we move -So impressed with French way of doing it 2m x 2m in 12's. -Seems you don't have to rotate everything all the time either, and can form some really nice patterns and colours.

Much colder again, hope none of you have had floods as seen on UK telly. Off to Rouen this w/e for Salon de Gourmandises  - Love buying foody Xmas gifts (and making them to sell as well!). 1st fresh cranberries in the shops here, much bigger than home grown -Couldn't get anything larger than a holly berry when I grew them so gave up! - Must start making mincemeat. Lost greenhouse roof twice already this week -Still Japanese Onions have taken off really well in polystyrene fish boxes -Seemed to like being bared to the elements instead of wrapped up cosily in greenhouse. peppers and chillies also seem OK -which goes against the book. Temp 15degrees but 7 first thing in the morning. Boots the Bengal bought a dead rat through the cat flap last night as a present for PP - Humans not impressed and flung it plus ALL cats out!!

    Happy Gardening!

Bio , picture of sort of raised beds made from " pallet colars "image

No flooding here BF but we've had some decent rain and more expected so we can start planting my trees and shrubs soon.    12C when we got back from dance class at 10pm this evening so good root growing conditions.

Very cold and I've got a cold -Making a really hot spicy curry tonight to kick it off before Rouen. Can't greet the public in this state!!. Did my monthly slot on France Bleu Radio (Cooking Programme) Just in passing said that I did Bio Gardening -Now want me to join Gardening Team for weekly slot to talk about Lunar Gardening -Panic!!

Rescued greenhouse roof yet again plus jammed wheelbarrow and pallets hard up against both ends.Picked some chillies to kill my cold - What sort of dancing do you do Obelixx? Line Dancing the craze here plus a little ballroom classes prior to New year's Eve hops.

    Have a great weekend all.

Grey and mis here but not cold.  Low teens I expect.

We do ballroom dancing here BF.  In Belgium we also did salsa and line dancing - all styles, not just C&W - but since the feet ops, line dancing is too much wear and tear and we haven't found classes anyway.  I walk the dogs with OH for an hour or so about 5 days a week now though so more than make up for it in terms of exercise levels.

Radio stuff sounds interesting.  Well done.   Good luck with the cold.  Try some cinnamon mixed with honey either on yogurt or in hot water.   Works on throats and may help with the rest.

Thanks for the recipes -Tried them all!! Just recovered in time for ANOTHER trip to UK! -This time to give Mother an early Xmas as she is in a Home and does not know her dates now and life is very sad  - We are working right through Xmas week and there will be no ferry crossings. But hey -how about December weather?

Bio dynamic predictions give us a mild month with periods of rain until the 20th although the conjunction between Uranus and Pisces gives us a chance of cold winds and snow between 8th and 12th. Xmas would appear to be warm and sunny although much colder weather predicted again 27/28th

Here is Lunar Calender 4 -11th December when I shall be back to do another fortnight.

4/5th December Root Days. Because most work has stopped in Potagers take stock of existing seeds in hand and buy in seeds for early planting to avoid 'out of stock' items.

6/7th December Moon ascending -Flower Days - Leave seed heads for birds but avoid gardening on the 6th, check bird boxes and insect houses for damage (Starlings are devouring the rest of our apples -usually a sign of cold spells to come) Sow Rock Roses/Poppies and other late spring flowers, these are in need of a cold spell to germinate.

8/9/10th December - Leaf Days. Grow indoor salads like cress, chick peas, soy and rocket for quick tasty salads from the kitchen windowsill. This is a good time to use up the last of Summer Salad seeds and to then buy fresh stock.

11th December - Fruit Day Moon in Taurus - Sow more Broad Beans.

12/13/14th December - Root Days Take a gamble with fine weather and under cover sow radishes thinly for a quick crop in a month.

Sorry to be brief -Ferry to catch!!!  Happy Gardening!
