What is hapenning to my lawn in the winter

  • Okay I got a spade and took a slice of turf up.In only a few seconds I counted around seven leatherjacket grubs. I guess there lies my problem. I had a word with the leader and told him to stop. Fingers crossed!

    I think weather conditions have had a big impact this year too - a lot more insects still around and breeding that, in a normal winter, wouldn't be. If you can do the black plastic trick (annie describes it on the previous page)  a bit at a time, it might get you a head start. Worth a try round the worst  affected bits perhaps.

    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
