'Chelsea Chop' winter pansies and violas

Hi All
Just gave the winter pansies and viola's a bit of a haircut. I noticed some young growth coming up from the base of the plants. Is this a sign of further growth for the spring? or I'm I wasting my time looking after them?

I wouldn't think it a waste at all; they can continue for ages yet.
