Rock salt weed control?
I have a path that is covered in weeds. I have read that applying rock salt to the path will kill the weeds. The problem is there is lawn either side of the path and I am worried that the salt may leach out and kill the grass.
I am reluctant to apply weed killer can anyone help me please?

Weed killer would be better than salt, although it is too early in the year to apply. Salt will leach out into the surrounding soil, and will kill plants and grass.

I can understand anyone that doesn't want to use chemicals to deal with weeds but rock salt is just another chemical and not one that's for that job

Hi Roosty, your question has been answered, but I would add, think about how only certain plants do well near the coast due to seaspray...salt.
Unless you don't want anything to grow there again ever - remember salted ground after armies passed through? Well, not personally remember of course, but salt very unwise for gardens.
A good sharpened hoe works well - and keeps you warm.
