Tree lily bulbs

! bought some tree lily bulbs and I was told to plant them on their side to prevent water getting in the middle ot the bulbs.Is this the best way?

Just put some grit under the bulbs and that is enough drainage. You could always slightly put the bulbs in at an angle but the design of a Lily bulbs means that water should never get to the middle of the bulb any way.
