lisianthus

I saw a bunch of lisianthus this morning and it reminded me that I have always loved them and I now have a greenhouse; came home and ordered seeds on line.

Any tips on growing them?

I had to google that artjak. New to me. Looks very rose like in the T&M picture

It's a pretty thing Nut and a good cut flower but I don't know anyone who grows them.

This site http://www.bhg.com/gardening/plant-dictionary/annual/lisianthus/ says they're extremely tricky to grow from seed.

Nut, you will have seen them in florists I expect. I found an American site based Chicago I think (much colder than here; the Riviera of Norfolkimage) who grows them outside in summer and found that they need lots of water and not too much sun. Just wondered if anyone grows them here. You can get plug plants but I decided to go the cheap route with seeds.

  • Definitely on my 'to have a go at list' but I think I need to invest in a greenhouse first.  Would love to know how you get on artjak.
