Transplanting a Pear Tree

In our garden we have a pear tree which has produced some fruit over the last two years. It is plonked in the middle of the garden and we would like to move it to a less trafficked area (and away from footballs!). We have earmarked a suitable spot, when is the best time to do this?

4ft tall no more than 10 years old. Has bourne fruit in the 3 summers we've lived here.
