Cauliflower
I love growing Cauliflowers and I buy ready to plant packs from my local nursery and have great results with them. I have tried growing All the year round Cauliflower from seed but they grow slowly, form small heads then bolt before they are ready to eat. Can anyone offer any advice. What am I doing wrong.

TeddyP I've never heard of those. Will be interested to read what replies you get.

I start the seed off in heat in mid January and again in march and the results are the same!
hi teddy i have grown those, the first year was a disaster i tried again 2013 and had success with three out of ten i have some seed left so will try this year again
I find cauliflowers to be rather fussy and some years they do really well and others not so. I've tried that variety but found it's worth paying the extra for F1 varieties, especially if they have an RHS AGM symbol. My tips are to never let them go short of water (otherwise they usually 'bolt') and to make sure they are planted deep (up to the bottom leaves) in really good moisture-retentive soil. The little blighters need too much mollycoddling for my liking!
sorry cant remember when i sowed the seed (see new year resolution thread)
i remember planting very deep and firming in well the second time but didnt do anything else differant it was perhaps all the rain we had early summer
i always net my brassicas as soon as they are planted
i will let you know how i get on this year
