There will probably have been seeds just waiting to spring up and they will have loved the fact that you cleared a patch of ground for them. You'll have to have another go, and probably another ..........
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I'm a total novice gardener who now has a small garden which is mostly grass, however, a large part of the area is overgrown with stinging nettles. (1) I want to get rid of the nettles and wondered if I sprayed the area now - Feb /March - it would do the trick? (2) Another thought is what if I keep mowing the area, so the nettles don't get a chance to grow, would that sort out my problem? (3) Would spraying the area with a weed killer also kill off the climbing rose and honeysuckle?

If you want to get active in the garden now, pull up the nettle roots and burn them. They usually come up easily and it is so satisfying.
