You can divide your waterlilies in spring. So not long to go now.

UPDATE: TY all. I've divided 4 plants which had massively grown out of their pots, and managed to successfully make about 35 small plants, all of which are thriving. I expect it'll be next year before they flower. Is that right? The same goes for reed mace.
