Coastal hedge

Decided to go with a coastal hedge, just wondering what type of hedge would the wildlife prefer? I'm planting the hedge mainly for privacy but would like to encourage wildlife to the garden.

I'd say Escallonia.
Sea buckthorn makes a good coastal hedge - good for security and privacy because of the thorns and good for wildlife because of the shelter from predators that a thorny hedge provides, together with the fact that because they are the last of the berries that the birds will eat, there are almost always plenty available for the winter migrants coming over from the continent.
The berries are also high in Vit C and other nutrients, and my Russian daughter in law makes a delicious jelly from them, to eat with cold meats etc.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I've got an east european selection for it's fruit and some native ones for pollination. They have male and femal plants. Holly and ivy are good native evergreens. Obviously something to grow over or through for the ivy. Horthorn is one the best native hedgers.
gorse buckthorn and hawthorn should do well
