Arum Lilies - Winter Care

Over the course of last summer I moved three pot bound Arum lilies into the garden. They have grown strongly, around two to three feet high, but have not flowered.  I am now concerned with frosts approaching if I should cut them back to ground level and cover with a mulch or just leave them to take their chance and recover in the spring.

  • Are these  Zantedeschia aethiopica - if so they're generally hardy - I'd give them a mulch but wouldn't cut them back unless they get badly frosted.

Sometimes the leaves survive and sometimes they don't.

If they do get damaged I'd sort of pull the damaged foliage away rather than cut as it can be too easy to damage new shoots.
