Another garden on my 'Must Visit Next Year' list is Raveningham Hall - the home of the new RHS Chair Sir Nicholas Bacon and 'just down the road' from here. I used to work with Sir Nicholas when I worked for the Norfolk & Norwich Festival and he's a great chap and loved to talk plants. Would love to see his gardens again so if anyone's interested, that's another one to think about for an 'outing'.
I might go when they're open for Snowdrop week as well
Oh yes - what would be the most important things to see?
I'd love to see the hellebores, but then I'll probably see most of them when I go for the snowdrops. Later on there's the agapanthus and euphorbias, and of course the veg garden and glasshouses ....... what do you think?
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Long evenings for driving home essential for me. I can do Mways and local roads in the dark but those one track each way headlights in my face all the time roads are too much.
I realised when I moved to Norfolk 13 years ago, well, full time 8 years ago that 'we don't hold with Motorways in Norfolk; we think they the Devil's Spawn'. Well, yes and no; I hate head lights in my face ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY ARE NOT DIPPED but I would not want to live near a motorway. That is why I don't go to many events involving lots of night time driving.

My Mum was a West Walton girl, who went to school in Wisbech, and then branched out to Cambridge - so i come from a tradition of county hoppers !!

It looks great; it would have to be a day out when the evenings are lighter for driving back.
