I totally agree Mark - it's so sad, and it's also disrespectful of the low-paid workers who propagated and potted the looked after those plants.
Some plants are salvageable - I bought two tiny almost dead Christmas Cacti some 14 years ago and now they're amazing plants that everyone who sees them flowering remarks on.
But there are some plants that just don't have that resilience, and I'm afraid that Poinsettias are in that group

one thing they don't like is soggy soil ,let them drink from the base and water when really dry they like a warm sunny room and the more neglected the better.My grandfather grew one in a big pot in his sunny front room beautiful bracts and such a marvel and my daughter who is good at killing plants has kept one for a whole year by forgetting to water it!good luck.
