Probably would have been better to cut it down but it won't hurt it. I should think it's pot-bound by now as well. I's plant it, either now or in spring and cut it back next year
I thought it might be pot bound too so I just put it in a bigger pot today, but it's not. I think I will plant it in the garden today as you suggest Nut as it is obviously not happy. Thanks.
With nothing to loose I have just pruned out the "ill" looking bits prior to planting in the ground and it looks 100 times better. Fingers crossed for next year.
I had to give it another chance Nut although I agree with your sentiments.
..there's nothing wrong with that plant...it's a gorgeous Miscanthus...probably the variety sinensis 'Zebrinus'...you can see the yellow banding on the leaves, and with that band spacing..it looks like Zebrinus to me..as the bands are closer together in this variety...although there are a few others of this type.... also the leaves turn a pale yellow towards Autumn....as yours are doing there...

Sometimes you get a plant that just isn't much good.
Maybe this is one of them

I like to give things several chances, followed by a warning, then the compost heap/shredder

...plant in the ground...it's wonderful...
Verdun and Salino - I have been very cruel and naughty to the poor plant to leave it in its pot all year.
I hope by this time next year I will be able to post on here a stunning picture.
