Parsnip leaves/compost

Morning all, In the process of finishing off sorting my new raised bed and wondered if I could throw the leaves/greens from the top of my parsnips in before the compost goes in. Some one told me it wasn't a good idea but wanted the opinion of the pros on here. Thanks in advance

Why are you taking the tops off your Parsnips, or do you mean the tops when you clean them readyf or eating?
Either way as long as you do not put the top of the parsnip in (that might regrow) then I can see no problem with layering any green material in the bottom of a raised bed before adding soil.
