Oh David I didn't think about the other camera, it's the Panasonic Lumix. I remembered you saying the Leica lens was good so I've been tempted to spend my Christmas money on one. Can't wait for it to arrive now.
An excellent choice of camera, Lesley......it will need a SD HC memory card, I prefer Sandisk myself.
It seems the capacity of these memory cards is getting bigger and bigger these days, but 16GB (IMHO) is sufficient to take hundreds & hundreds of pics. I say this because it's good practice to format the card every few months rather than delete individual, unwanted shots.
Maybe worth considering a 32GB card if you are taking a two week holiday.
Btw, remember to format your card before you use it for the first time.
Thank you David. I have downloaded the manual and can't believe the number of features the camera has. It's going to take a long time to get used to using a fraction of them. Thanks for the reminder on formatting the card too. it's a long time since I had a new camera.
Yesterday, on the recently 'constructed' flood relief plain (probably not what it's called) near the river I saw a load of lapwings. I guessed a thousand; a proper birder said four thousand and my friend today said there are fifteen thousand!
Steephill - those are astonishing photos - and astonishingly beautiful. Thanks for putting those on here. Better than any jewellery
I often think we don't spend enough time looking closely at things in nature. I've been more aware of it since I've been back walking, and I take a bit of time to look at 'stuff' closely. If the weather's favourable of course!
fidget...
That's a lot of birds Steve
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

No wish to add to your learn load, but just a few moments taken to read this will be helpful: http://tbexcon.com/us/2012/10/24/memory-card-best-practices-15-things-you-should-already-be-doing/
That time again.

Here are just a few of them.
Not the greatest photos but they do give an idea.
