They have some used Canon cameras on ebay for around my budget but they're only 8.2 mp, would I be able to get some decent shots with one of these?

Personally , I wouldn't buy secondhand because the digital cameras are updated so quickly.  Also, unless you can try before you buy, you might get something with scratched lens or has been dropped etc.

  • Beautiful pic, KEF

Btw, the memory card problem could happen with any camera.....or any memory card to be precise.

Just spent a while catching up on this thread, stunning photo's everyoneimage I especially like your seed heads Fidget and thanks for the link to Danny Greens site David, amazing, I now want to go to Finland and Iceland!

If I were to buy a camera for around £80ish what would you recommend? and would I get more for my money if I bought second hand or is that a false economy?

Ashleigh - I agree with fidget, avoid second hand  cameras....certainly unless you know the camera & seller.

Perhaps worth noting that you can buy a new Canon Powershot A2500 (Argos) for around £60. This has a 5x zoom & 16 mega-pixels and quite capable of taking some very good pictures.

Oh course, it wouldn't be a match for Danny Green's shots.  image
