Indoor Living Wall

Does anyone know how to make an indoor living wall/living art without having to buy a pre-made container.  Can the container be made from wood and what do you need to use as the felt type base?

i saw a program on this recently where some used an old pallet.

You pick up the lanscaping fabric from any b&q/homebase but they usually charge over the odds for it, i tend to buy it from b&m bargains/homebargains/poundstetcher/wilkos etc when i happen to go bargain hunting.  Probably not he best time of year to get hold of it though.

You can also get it online for a fraction of the price, ebay would be a good place to start.
