Yes, lovely job - well done Bob.

  • Brilliant results for all the hard work Bob!

(Your raised beds by the front door look about 2ft high x 4ft long - roughly how much soli/compost would it take to fill one of these? Never been very good at calculating this sort of thing!)

Dolgarrog - I've been building some raised beds too and one is more or less complete and filled. It's around the same dimensions- about 2x4' and I've used a couple of bags of soil and two large bags of compost (125l each) plus a few containers of spent compost from the tomatoes and sweet peas (maybe another 70l?) and I'd say about another 70l worth in the plants I've put in - one plant was in a large pot- 15' diameter. Plus some grit.

In other words - quite a lot! About 8/10 'normal' (70l) sized bags of soil/compost I'd guess.

I'm sure there's a way to work it out though! image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • many thanks fairygirl!  I'm glad you put it in 'compost bag' amounts - I can visualize that!  (& the hard graft to come filling it in!!) xx
