There was one in the garage of the house we bought, I planted a wldflower mix in it this year and an old metal dustbin, also in the garage, has been painted black and has a fatsia japonica growing in it.
Ranunculus - some people in this area have set up pages where people can give stuff away for free, like freecycle! It's fab, I always keep my eyes open for garden items!!!
i would like a metal bath for my salad items, I'm keeping my eyes open!
What a blast from the past RD, I remember we had a couple of 'mangles' now, if I had a lagre garden me thinks they would look good as features with plants growing over them.
I use old bins for composting muck and making plant feed in, my friends children, all under 7, think, they are from the 'Olden Days' before recycling bins doesn't that just make one feel old and I've along ways to go before I'm 27.

Ranunculus I just searched for pages/groups like 100% free Lincoln. Gifters and givers. What area are you based and I will search for you too.
RD - I'm based on the London/Essex border.
I will have a look for you. Have you tried freecycle. also I would put a post on Facebook asking your friends they may have seen some.
No freecycle in my area the last time I tried - will try again.
