Well, I expect my long-sown runners to be through tomorrow as today I have bought some runner bean plants and will go out and plant them in a moment image

At least these are white and the ones I sowed were red, so I'll be able to tell if any of them come up.

Thanks for the warning KEF.  It's not sunny but is quite bright and warm. Sunblock on the forehead is for bird watching sunblock on the back of the neck is for weeding.  Really want to birdwatch todayimage

Hmm Dove, do the colours change - heard about this type of problem beforeimage

Lizzie - I thought punkdoc had nothing on and was changing into shortsimage  It's OK though I covered my eyes and only watched through my fingersimage

I had to go into Derby and be photographed and identified(passport, driving licence NI no and recent utility bill). This is so I can use a smart card in the computer at various places of work.100 yards down the road I noticed by wing mirror seemed wrong. I leaned out and it fell into my hand. As I was already late, I had to travel down the A52 without a wing mirror. Pretty scary (and also illegal as the man in the garage told me).

Anyway, clutching my new smart card, I called in at the garage. The man behind reception got some glue out and stuck it back on. Apparently this is happening a lot with the hot weather. Built in obsolescence. As I bought the car from them, they didnt charge me ,so I went on my merry way to Morrisons. New solero mojito(with 0.5% rum). I'm supposed to ask your age  says the lady behind the till. As I rolled my eyes at her, she thought better of it.

I have posted seeds off to Orchid lady and Star Gaze lily.

I said hello to new neighbour in the renovated gate house next door, saw that the rose cuttings and foxglove seeds I geurilla gardened for him were growing nicely.

I found him some more plants for him to grow....every little helps.

Stuff in the garden is wilting. I may just sit under the brolly and give the garden a good looking at this afternoon. Too hot to do much.

Fidget I don't think it's a brolly - it's a parasolimage  Lucky you caught the wing mirror. Surely they're not just glued onimage.  Never had that problem ooop north. (loved your wildlife last night)  Are you going to change your avatar now you are a real identified person?image

Wing mirrors (the "glass" part) are indeed attached with an adhesive tape type glue. Very often when you have extreme heat rises (of course being metal they absorb all the heat and get extra hot if heat is reflected off buildings etc.) they can come loose or even fall off. The bonus is that of course they're very easy to pop back on!

(They can also fall off when its very cold - as mine did a few years ago!)

Clari Clarifiesimage   Too warm to get my coat, I'll just hide in a shady corner.

What are they made of if not glass?  Why don't they break when they fall?  Sorry too much workimageimage

The mirror part of mine is plastic. The housing is plastic.  When the other one falls off I'll get out the double sided sellotape. Its parked between the houses and doesn't bake in the sun all day.

The man next door says he hasn't seen many birds yet, although he seems to have a lot of frogs.   Thats because he hasn't put up a feeder, and all the birds are scoffing in my garden.

I've been out for lunch and a natter with a good friend. Had bacon & chicken salad and two soda & lime, feel too lethargic to do anythink so I think I'll also sit and look at the garden. image

I'm watering and potting on and stuff.  I popped into the GC this morning image and picked up 3 slightly shrivelled purple sages for £4.50  - probably only worth half that but they were reduced from £7.99 and it was too hot to argue.  I'm going to pot them up and give them some tlc and soon they'll bulk up and look gorgeous planted out in the front border, with it's blue/plum/butter yellow theme.
