Verdun you've made me want a heliotrope now, I've never grown one. Last year I had a little pot of pinks outside the front door, they smelled heavenly when I came home but although they're still alive, the snails have been at them and I can't see any flowerheads. I take it slugs and snails don't like heliotrope that much?
Been raining for a week and I've been working alot The garden looks lush and I just got round to planting out my toms in a spare patch of land baked against a south facing fence...so, can't give them a better suntrap than that.
Again, I;ve run out of room in the veg plot which is yet to be landscaped so its just three raised beds looking a bit cramped. Two @4x4 plus 1 @6x6. You'd think that would be enough room for my needs but then I went and bought those pesty plugs for more than I planned, since my seedlings either died off or still look pathetic.
Potatoes are doing great though and the strawberries are crazy with ripening fruits. My beetroot just about managed to withstand the rigours of birds pecking them to death, my carrots have endure slug attacks although I have yet to discover if a row of chives has kept the rootfly at bay. Salad leaves still need somewhere to live and the first sowing of my peas was a poor show so I've just resown. Sweetcorn need a home soon and my leeks are decidedly unimpressive in their seedtrays still, I wonder if they are hungry and need some food? I never normally have an issue growing leeks, but I am late with sowings since I don't have a greenhouse YET.
The end of this season will see a massive overhaul in my veg plot, with better positioned raised beds and a greenhouse for next year.
Morning all, sun is trying to peek through the clouds. Wet outside so rained earlier, tho don't know how hard.
Hopefully the weather won't be as bad as forecast as OH and I would like to go out today as its our anniversary (thats why we went out yesterday just incase of storms!)
Meal out tonight again anyway...yay no cooking!
Have a lovely day Dove with ma, pa and friend.
Hope everybody else has a good day and weather not too bad.
Verdun, will look up that plant sounds lovely. I bought a couple of carnation plants a few weeks ago called Memories the smell if absolutely beautiful.
Very dark here, lights on, and a few big splashes of rain.
Wintersong, I've never had to feed leeks at that stage. My chives aren't looking very clever, in fact a very poor attempt at germinating. My peas have flowers on but I grew in GH and then planted out. You'll have fun next year when you get your GH
In the time it took to type the above it is now raining heavily.

Good morning Lesley
Just moved a few small pots into garage just in case, don't want them battering.
