Change of plan for today. We will be visiting friends in Harrogate sometime over the next few weekends so will go to harlow Carr then not today. Today's treat will be a trip to Nostell Priory, gardens and parkland, everyone's happy image no shop though but GC on the way of course!image

Been out to the GH this morning and set all the plants outside that need hardening off. Lowest temp in GH overnight was 7.6

Lovely sunny morning here in East Bristol. Just sat down for a coffee. Blackbird is back up on his perch at top of Holly tree welcoming the sunshine while mrs blackbird goes grub hunting for the kids.

Another blackbird came and sat in his tree: don't know what it was that he said 'cos I don't speak blackbird, but I don't think I'd want it translated into English!

Chicky- know how frustrating tree seedlings are. We have Sycamore seedlings which are just as bad. I reckon I must have pulled up hundreds of the little blighters!!

Sunny today and greenhouse vents already open. Planning to try and start planting up my shady border with all the lovely plants I've bought over the last few days. OH levelled out the main part of the border and added our leaf mould. Border is bigger than I thought so might need some more plants image.

I was a Neil Diamond fan and now I don't want to hear another Neil Diamond song after my 'delightful' neighbiurs blasting it out at 3am!! Then starting a firework display at 4am.  Angry isn't the word image Anyway,  up early OH has mowed the lawns and little man is doing essential drum practice image

Not caught up with everyone yet but SOHTB is Sister's Other Half To Be image

mmmm just enjoying a nice coffee (new machine) in the corner of the garden whilst staring at my rather sad looking 'Beauty of Livermere' Papaver orientale

Out for lunch today and a GC visit on the way back - day off reward as we moved 2 tons of concrete to the tip yesterday - just 4 tons left to go..

Star gaze. Don't know whether it would work but on GW last week MD planted an alpine garden.

    Hi SGL,

If you are going to plant the pot up you will need to get someone to drill a few holes in the bottom for drainage. You could add some brass chains to it (in 3 or 4 positions to prevent it turning upside down in windy conditions) and make it a hanging basket. I say brass chains (or a weatherproof cord) as any other metal will cause corrosion at the point of contact.

A couple of plants in the middle with some trailing ones around the perimeter hanging down over the rim could look nice: depends on what colours you prefer as to what they should be of course. John H
