Brrrrrrrrr!!! More snow here earlier but blue skies at the moment. I have to pop into the village in a bit and I'll just check the garden for loose lagging etc. Otherwise I plan a lazy day ... tomorrow we'll be up early and on the train to London - meeting up with Foodie Friends for a Feast and a lot of nattering - think temperatures around Soho will rise - there'll be a lot of hot air around
Glad you're getting organised BL If you're in the area and looking for good food check this one out http://www.foxandgoose.net/about. We used to eat there regularly for special occasions etc when I lived that way - (it had a Michelin star back then) . New people took it over a while back and it took a while to get going, but I've heard recently that it's really good again now.

Been finding it tricky to get on laptop with guests always about wanting to chat, they are with us for 10 more days, they get the keys to their house on the 25th. They are really lovely and it is nice to have people to chat to but I seem to have got very behind with all my usual jobs.
Charlie is finding it a little bit tricky too, he is having to be on best behaviour, especially at mealtimes, and it's not always easy. Unfortunately, seeing some elements of his behaviour through other people's eyes also highlights areas where I think I need to be stricter with him, nothing too serious but he is apt to argue a point or challenge an instruction to go and have a shower or something and I realise now how often I have been letting him get away with it. I shall have to be more careful with him. At 8 years old he is just getting a bit big for his boots and I need to manage that without crushing his spirit. I think he is a bit jealous too in a strange way. Bit of juggling to do with him I think, finding a balance between playing by the rules and allowing him to make some personal choices. I do wish life was simpler.
Sorry to read about poorly people, but can see some are getting better. Roll on spring.
Do all take care in snow and icy conditions, definitely a time to be staying close to home wherever possible. We have snow forecast for Monday but at the moment it is bright and sunny, but very much colder than last week.
Have to go to airport today and collect OH, worried he won't be happy seeing how 'at home' our guests have made themselves, he is not good socially.
I am out all evening though, I have booked in a new fitness class at the swimming pool, it's a trial session so very cheap and we get an aperitif after, and then it's straight to my gym class after.
Hopefully, by the time I get home, they will all be rubbing along nicely or will have gone to bed.
Have a nice afternoon all.

Hello everyone. In bed at last and able to chat with you now that visitors are tucked away in their room. Mind you it's after midnight, once again, but will need a wind down time to sleep.
Our grandson has been well behaved, but we're not used to so much chatter. He just talks and talks. His father was out all day gold panning and metal detecting, and so grandson decided to stay with us. Fortunately, because i was as sick as a dog once again, Hubby took him under his wing, so I could just sit and feel miserable. I came good again by mid afternoon, but was very cautious about what I ate.
They are leaving tomorrow morning, so I can get on with being crook in peace (and quiet). I'm hoping it doesnt take me three months again to get over it. Doesn't bear thinking about.
DD- it's a tough gig keeping children in order, but you also have a slightly different home to most other families. Possibly a bit harder when he's not got other siblings to keep him in line as well!
It's a pity they don't come with an instruction manual...
Hope Pat is ok. She's had a tough time. Glad chicky's medical went well.
Do you want a loan of my crampons Dove and BL?
Might need them myself tomorrow though. Heading to Glen Lyon - if the little minor road across to it is open. It's often blocked with snow, so I may need to opt for a different hill. The Arrochar hills look lovely today - clear and sunny weather, so I get a good glimpse of them when I go down the hill to the main road. Even the Campsies have a good dusting - they're on the north side of Glasgow and I can see them coming back from work if there isn't the usual cloud hanging down.
Better go and get some supplies. Girls are away all weekend ski-ing with their Dad. Think they'll have plenty of snow too!
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Beautiful frosty morning, but now the temperature has risen a bit and we have, at last, had a little snow in the valley.
DD, Fairy has voiced my thought about kids - no instruction manual... When my children were little, I asked my dad how he always seemed to know how to deal with me & my sister when we were small. "We just muddled along" he said. "Do you think we did all right?" He and Mum always seemed so confident and consistent when dealing with us and I found it a comfort to know that they were feeling their way just as much as I felt to be doing, with my own children.
Take care tomorrow Fairy!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
DD, I think that with only children, especially if there are frequently a lot of adults around, he/she can somehow take on the role of 'entertainer' - and sometimes the 'performance' can go a little far ... not sure what to do about that one other than make sure they get to spend plenty of time with their peers, which you do, and make sure they know that whilst it's nice to be sociable, it's not their job to keep the adults amused

Hi DD I worked with children for 25 years plus my own. I always found if they were involved in making the rules it was easier to keep them. Try sitting down and having a strategy meeting! you say what you want and see if he can suggest how to achieve that, compromise is the key tho Hope you enjoy the new class.
Write them down, no more than 6 and ask Charlie to draw and design the chart good luck!
we had our water engineers here sadly for me it would appear the studio is in mains sewage however it took them over three hours to find this out! So not sure how I move in, Ombudsman I think. Getting bored with this.
its been -2 all day, cold but beautiful and had a lovely walk with no ill effects!
