Having read the last few pages, I'm now so full of everyone's news that I can't remember individual bits. It's so nice to wake up and scroll through what you're all saying, though. We had a storm pass through last evening which had an irritating effect - had not long opened the windows to cool the bedroom after a 39c day so that the room would be comfortable for us and then had to rush around and close windows. So the room hadn't had time to cool down By the time we went to bed. I don't think there was much rain I it, but I'm sure all the plants were grateful.
Hosta, I can't believe the time you are having - some holiday, eh!
Wonky, I have a permanent ear/tooth thing - a legacy from living in the tropics for 13 years and getting repeated middle ear infections, so I understand and sympathise.
Everyone else, sorry I can't remember, but I did read and nod and smile at your comments.
im hoping my tummy bug has eased a bit today. Will have to wait until I've had some breakfast before I can feel confident. My visitors have delayed arriving until Friday. So I've got another full day to try to improve.
Morning all, 4/5th time trying to post, all seems to vanish soon as I try to send, fingers crossed this time lol. Glad to see all are slowly on the mend at last. Seems 7 dead so far pat plus deaths in the alps also. Flowers you made me smile when I read about the cardboard clothes lol as I remember them well . Very wet here but feeling icy. Off for wee cuppa t under my throw till house heats up. Enjoy your basking Hostas .
Actually hosta, I fnd a slightly leaking face mask is really good for clearing sinuses. You cant beat a good saline nasal wash out. I wont elaborate further in case anyone is eating breakfast.
I'm glad you had a better nights sleep, Panda. Maybe I should put my method of going to sleep on the end of the fantasy garden thread. Some may call it a form of self hypnosis, but it works for me. It involves imagining you are walking through a pleasant place... a fantasy garden will do, until you relax and fall asleep.
It's wet and horrible here. I have a few errands to do and a bit of shopping. Have a good day folks.
Morning all - snowing quite hard here at the moment - big fat flakes - none of that wet sleety rubbish. Looks nice but we have quite a long drive to make to a funeral this pm so we'll be leaving a bit earlier I think.
Have another funeral tomorrow - somehow these events always seem a bit sadder when the weather is poor don't they?
Hope everyone stays warm / cool as desired. This talk of lavender makes me think of summer
SYL.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
LilyP the snow is just covering the ground so not too bad but I think I'll keep off the icy road today. Glad you are able to start reducing your meds but take it easy. The bookcase is waiting for the more able bodied.
Dove, make sure everything is battened down and keep warm.
Fidget I think I'd have to walk somewhere else or I wouldn't be able to sleep for wondering what certain plants were called. My Mum used to count sheep but couldn't carry on after one got stuck jumping the gate.
Flowers I'm being a wimp and using a tumble dryer but I do remember frozen clothes from my childhood.
Clarice - stay snug and pretend the house hasn't heated up
Missed you there Topbird. Hope the funeral goes as well as these things can and that the roads are not too icy. Same for tomorrow. A very sad time for you.
Sad times, Topbird - travel safe, hope the funerals go as well as these things can. x
Cold here, but still only snow on the tops. Pretty though!
Fidget, snap! Couldn't get to sleep last night, having read a thriller much too late in the evening, but managed to calm down and drop off by thinking about those lovely ideas on your fantasy garden thread. Thank you!
I'm now feeling a lot wider awake today than this time yesterday morning... The smoke detectors went off for 3 seconds at 4.30am on Wednesday, so of course we had to investigate the whole house to make sure it was a false alarm - by which time I was so wide awake and wired that I coudn't get back to sleep (just in case there was really something about to burst into flames somewhere...) Yesterday I vaccuumed the smoke detectors (3 interlinked ones, one on each floor), and we had a peaceful night. (Apart from the cat, who was feeling cold, and wanted to sleep on my head. )
Pat, Wonky, Hosta and others - get well soon!
Must stay in for the delivery of my new walking boots. Will make a casserole I think - it's the weather for a nice hearty stew...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Sorry Flowers missed you there, I remember bringing in frozen towels. Great fun!

Good morning all
G'day Pat
I had a lay in and my first mug of coffee of the day in bed
Hope Wonky and others are feeling much better - good news from Hosta and LilyP
Apparently North Norfolk is getting sleet and gales today - how far north is North Norfolk - think it might include us
Now for another coffee and a wander around to see what's been going on since I fell asleep on the sofa last night
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
