Buttercup days sorry I've just read back on the full story, so so sorry, you must of been very brave, I know I would of been very nervous of going round to the house, similar thing as happened to me but in a different situation, I don't know you but I'm proud of you well done.
so sorry for your neighbour my thoughts are with her and her family
Thanks for your kind thoughts everyone. I have just got back here after visiting my neighbour, and she seems a tad better today, has managed the routines of feeding her dog and cats and even the birds. Her brother had left but is coming back later and the farmer was with her (he is doing up the farmhouse so not living there at present), he was shocked and couldn't believe it either. She has some good virtual friends too it seems, on a cat & dog forum, and says their support is helping a bit and she has been in phone contact with one of them for a while, a friend even though they haven't met. It wasn't the best start to Christmas but I'll be fine, though it did bring back the Boxing Day 12 years ago when my father died while staying with us, in a very similar way. However he was 81 and we knew had angina so the shock was somewhat less and I did get chance to sit with him and say goodbye, which helped a lot. Now we can laugh at present opening time, about how long he took to open his parcels, and always flattened and folded the wrapping paper for re-use. I told my neighbour about it and about the yellow teddybear paper that first appeared when my little brother was two, and was still reappearing, slighter smaller and more crumpled, every year until he was about 14, which even made her smile a bit
Oh Buttercup that is dreadful! What a calm lady you must be to have dealt with all of this. I am just so sorry it happened on Christmas Day. You really are a good neighbour
little anne, there are no words, so so sad. The community will cling together I am sure.the family must be devastated
i am grieving today for the loss of my much loved auntie this morning but she was in her bed surrounded by her loved ones and was a good age She chose the anniversary of her first husband,s death to pass. She was one of the lucky ones when you read the stories above
btw it's still raining here, hope we get out tomorrow
Weeds are flowers, too, once you get to know them.” A A Milne
An awful experience for your neighbours and yourselves buttercupdays and little-ann
My condolences LP, but as you point out the long and fruitful life she had, I hope it can ease your loss
Absolutely tragic flooding going on, plus the bushfires in Pat-Land, I need to think plants and hope that spring time is not too distant to lift my spirits
DD, please take care of your back . Perhaps a treatment with the chiropractor? It did me the world of good years ago when I injured my spine lifting my youngest in and out of his cot. Wasn't cheap but worth every penny . I do hope I got the correct doc for bad backs and not feet, I get those two professions mixed up
Admiring chicky and fairy from a safe distance, I've been pooped all day. Got my eldest staying for a week from tomorrow but he's a social body so just one family meal should suffice
Buttercupdays, take it easy and don't be surprised to be upset for a few days. It's tragic and most difficult for the poor lady of course, but even witnessing such an event can shake you more (and for longer) than you might expect.

Just seen more flooding on the 10pm news, just awful, poor people. Here it's rained far less than usual.
