We had 9mm rain overnight and it's still overcast so it's about high 20s I suppose, so is bearable (for me). Haven't had the Tele on yet today because of the nightmarish trip to town to get our usual list of groceries before the Christmas visitors feasts.
I can't believe the idiotic shoppers with trolleys full of rubbish food and the shops seem to have sent their staff away on holidays (or maybe stress leave). Every store had huge queues andHubby is not the most patient of shoppers. He needed to buy some silica stuff for the sliding door and went to three different shops - the first didn't have any. And he walked out of the other two in disgust because he was ignored by staff.
Now im worn out and flopping on the lounge chair with HRH.
I'm interested in your next holiday. Have you been to that region before? I can't think I recognise the name. I always assumed the Red Sea area would be rather desolate and unoccupied, but that's just my lack of knowledge of the area. Hope it works out well for you two there.
Never been there Pat.I'm sure away from the rim of the Red Sea, it might well be desolate but the snorkelling is supposed to be excellent, not on a Great Barrier Reef level, but pretty good.
I'll let you know when I get home, or maybe whilst there?
Since talking to Hosta (who I assume has now managed to get to sleep) , I googled hurghhada. It sure looks luxurious. I think they'll have a beaut holiday there.
Hello early risers, including our early bird Dove . We've managed to get some cool breezes this afternoon which is very welcome.
Glad Hosta and OH have found themselves a holiday - I hope they have a fantastic time - it's not where I'd choose to go, but then the UK can be a little warm for me on occasion!
Just a bit of h**s*w**k to do, then the last-minute shopping list to write before we pick up the lobsters and other perishables on Wednesday.
It'll be hectic for OH this week as all the turkeys, geese and cockerels arrive at the farm shop this morning and over the next few days each one will have to be matched up with the right customer

Hi Dove. I hoped you'd be on soon. We're having lobsters and prawns as well. Hubby is going to prepare the main meal as a sort of garlic prawns on a huge bed of rice (and butter). We're all looking forward to it.
The last hotel in Hurghada we stayed at, had seahorses in a patch of weed just off the jetty. It made a good shallow last dive.
Hostafan, see if you can do a trydive while you're there. The best stuff to see is in the top 15metres, so you don't need to go too deep. The first time I went there, there was no airport and we had to be bussed down from Cairo. The boat was rubbish, the food appalling, but the diving was amazing.
We're having ours grilled with garlic butter and a green salad and celeriac remoulade and a bottle of Macon Villages.
We'll start the meal with some prosciutto and melon. After the lobster we'll have some wonderful local cheese and eventually get around to finishing with a Limoncello and raspberry semi-freddo. Don't think we'll need a dessert wine with that
We may find room for some mince pies and brandy later in the evening.
This'll be the first Christmas in a while when I've not had to stay off the booze as there was always a chance that Pa would be rushed into hospital - in fact I've spent two Christmas Day nights in the past five years in hospital with him. Now we no longer have him, and Ma is in reasonable health so hopefully I've every excuse to take a drink or two this year, even if it is just the two of us at our rather exclusive party

Think too much 'Christmas spirit' may have been taken on board! Don't recall any previous incidents quite like that on here before ... Glad I was falling asleep in front of the Apprentice!
